I'm excited to officially announce the first ever Conceptual Portrait Workshop with Tara Denny Images!!!
About the workshop:
The workshop will take place over the course of a single day- an ALL DAY LONG event! Snacks, drinks and food will be provided as well as access to unique props and wardrobe to help you style your own shoot. Models and assistants will be on hand to assist you in creating your vision.
We will cover everything from finding inspiration, to planning and executing a shoot, to building/acquiring props and wardrobe, approaching models, shooting your stock library, post processing in Photoshop, and if time permits, the business side of fine art- approaching galleries, entering shows, and social media presence.
Each student in the workshop will receive an accompanying workbook and a flash drive with additional course materials such as stock images and textures that are free to use, You will have the opportunity to book your workshop with either an additional (1) hour or (5) hours of one on one mentoring with me. These extra mentoring sessions are outside of the workshop and subject to our mutual availability. The mentoring sessions will be held in a public place. (no private home meetings) You can use these mentoring sessions for either help with planning, Photoshop or execution. I'll help you on a shoot, be your assistant or standby to help you in any way you need.
About the venue:
The classroom portion of the workshop will take place in the small classroom of Metea County Park nature center. Not only will we have a comfortable classroom with access to a kitchen and bathrooms, we will also have access to a diverse landscape in which to shoot.
Metea park has gorgeous scenery that includes grassy prairies, green forests, a clear water creek with water that is clean and free of parasites, as well as a pond with small beach.
It is a perfect venue for conceptual photography.
Who should take this class?
If you are looking for a way to express yourself through art, or if you are a professional photographer looking to enhance your skills, this class is for you.
This class is designed for people who already know how to use their camera and gear. It is not a beginner photography course, so there will be no time to explain technical photography. However, this should not discourage the beginner photographer from taking this workshop. My techniques are very basic and easily attainable. I aim to show you the possibilities available to you with a little imagination.
Even though Photoshop is a useful tool for conceptual photography, it is not mandatory. Any layer based editing program can be used, however I will be teaching using Photoshop CC. I find the programs all have similar controls, so don't feel like you can't take the class without Photoshop. We will also cover a portion dedicated to creating conceptual work without Digital Manipulation.
What You Will Need:
A camera, and if you wish to edit along with me in class, a laptop with your favorite editing program installed.
These items are not required, but you will get so much more from the class if you are able to participate. If you are not able to bring these things, you can still learn much, and you will have your workbook to take home with you to help guide you later.
Imagination is Mandatory! ;-)
